Study Cairns CONNECTS is aimed at further enhancing the International Student Experience in Cairns through work integrated learning programs accessible by local employers, education institutions and international students.
Study Cairns President Carol Doyle said that “Global students highly value work experience that provides real-world skills. Study Cairns CONNECTS, as part of the Cairns Student Hub will demonstrate that Cairns is an innovative, education focused city that recognises the cultural value and skills international students can bring. Intersective’s Practera platform will help us deliver an engaging, high quality experience for students, mentors and educators at substantial scale.”
The pilot project for more than 100 students, has been backed by Trade & Investment Queensland through the Queensland International Education and Training Partnership Fund, and is supported by the Cairns Regional Council. The project will also pilot an internship app built on Practera for Queensland edtech partner Successful Graduate.
Cairns Student Hub Co-ordinator, Donna Beeching said “Expressions of interest are already being sought from local employers and potential mentors for innovative projects that will connect students with the Cairns community and to gain real workplace experience.”
Intersective co-founder and Co-CEO Beau Leese said, we’re excited to be helping to make real world learning programs like Study Cairns CONNECTS much more accessible and scalable in regional centres. High quality work integrated learning is important for all students – but especially international students which can add so much economic and social value in the regions. Our Practera platform helps program managers deliver these programs more successfully and efficiently.
